Installing SugarCRM on a Nitix Server
So how easy is this to install? If I said 60 minutes tops would you believe me? Well it is true. Because Nitix Micro Servers & Nitix Mark I & II Servers offer autonomic server capabilities, it is as easy as creating a group, assigning users and then copying files into a directory and reboot. You are in the CRM business, it is that easy!
Want to try it yourself? It is easy and free, but it will just take some time, a high speed connection, a spare PC with networking and the ability to burn CDs from .iso files.
- Locate a PC that you can erase the hard drive on with no consequences. Even an older one is OK. It should have a network card and a CD reader. This will be your Nitix and SugarCRM demo server.
- Go to our Free Download LINUX page and download the trial version of Nitix and install it on the PC by setting the PC’s BIOS to boot off the CD drive and install Nitix on the PC’s hard drive.
- Got to the Sugar CRM open source download page and download the open source version of Sugar CRM. Prepare the files for installation according to the documentation.
- Finish the installation of Nitix on your trial server and create at least one user account.
- Create a team (group) named sugar and join one or more user accounts to this group.
- From the client where you have downloaded the Sugar CRM installation files, logon to the server and access the sugar team directory and install by copying the Sugar installation files into the Sugar>WWW directory. The WWW directory is the one Apache looks at to host web sites.
- Reboot the server or restart Apache to start serving the Sugar CRM application.
- You can access your Sugar CRM installation by using a URL such as:
http://ipaddress_of_server/~sugar/index.php
http://domainname/~sugar/index.php
